Maya Finlay is a freelance artist/engineer/producer based in San Francisco, CA.

As a studio sound engineer, Maya has done everything from voice-overs and sound design to artist development and music tracking/mixing. She has worked with many successful artists including Joan Jeanrenaud, Mark Keller, pc muñoz, and The Matches. She has also engineered and assisted voice-over sessions for numerous television and radio spots, including commercials for Home Depot and Michelin, short videos for The Muppets, and documentaries for National Geographic.

As a live sound engineer, Maya has mixed shows at some of San Francisco’s finest venues, including Yoshi’s, The Independent, and Bottom of the Hill, and regularly mixes popular Bay Area bands Forró Brazuca and Oona. In addition to writing and arranging her own music, Maya is a multi-instrumentalist who has played in several local bands, including BrazilVox and Jacopo. Talking House producer Marc Weibel (The Lovemakers, The Federalists) describes Maya as one of the “movers and shakers on the local music scene”.

Maya’s experience with audio also includes doing sound for theater as well as mixing audio for video, both in the field and in post-production. During the two years Maya lived in Brazil, she developed and directed the radio program “Rhythm and Poetry” in Salvador, Bahia, using music as a tool for social enrichment. Currently, she is part of a production team developing a multimedia educational drum methodology based on Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

Maya shamelessly exploits her reputation as a “jack of all trades” by also indulging in photography and videography.
