Music Production and Band Recording 2
Description:
Building from Music Production and Band Recording 1, this class will work through lectures and hand-on experience geared towards musical structure, new digital audio production techniques, and MIDI applications, for any genre. As with Music Production and Band Recording 1, at the end of class you will have a finished audio product to share with friends. Students are encouraged to bring acoustic instruments (guitars, drums, bass, percussion) to the class, and sample libraries they they may want to use.
Objectives:
1. Learn core elements of song structure and music composition
2. Understand MIDI as a way to record and control music
3. Create beats using the midi editor
4. Apply creative digital signal processing to create new sounds
5. Automate multiple audio parameters of and digital signal processing plug-in
6. Understand sequencing and routing audio into Ableton Live via ProTools or another "host" application (Rewiring)
7. Know the basic aspects of digitally “mastering” audio recordings
